To make renewing a driver’s license of changing a driver’s license as easy as possible, the state of Texas has a portal set up for these transactions to be handled online. To renew a Texas drivers license online, the applicant must be under 79 years of age. This includes active military personnel that currently reside out of Texas.
All that’s needed for a Texas driver to renew their license online is a valid credit card (limited to Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express), a current Texas driver license or ID card, and a valid Social Security number. To login, users simply need to enter their driver’s license or ID card number, their date of birth, the last four digits of their Social Security number, and their audit number.

Renewing a Texas drivers license online is indeed faster than filling out and mailing paperwork or waiting in line at a driver license office. But once the paperwork is submitted, regardless of the method of entry, the license will be received in the mail within two to three weeks.
If a Texas drivers license is lost or stolen, a replacement must be ordered at a driver’s license office. When the online process is complete for a Texas drivers license renewal or address change, the receipt can be printed and used as a temporary driver license, which will be valid for 45 days.
