- Founded in 1959 but the roots of the organization actually date back to the 1930’s when founding fathers Meinhard Nissen and Ernie Strack opened the Royal Blue grocery store in Griffith, Indiana
Strack & Van Til does accept personal checks for payment of groceries and loyal customers are allowed to write-up to $40.00 over the purchase amount for cash back. The stores DOT NOT allow the use of starter checks, payroll checks, government checks, money orders, or second party checks… please contact the individual Strack & Van Til store in regards to food stamp acceptance.
