What to Do When Your iPhone Cannot Connect to the iTunes Store

Apple is widely known for its famous tagline-it just works, which is reflected throughout its entire range of iDevices. However, in recent times, there have been increased incidences of random bugs affecting their overall device user base. One of these bugs commonly found in the iOS 8 platform is the – iPhone cannot connect to iTunes Store – error when users first set up their iPads or iPhones. This article will show you how to troubleshoot and get access to your iTunes store.

Disable and Enable iTunes Parental Controls

This process is effective in reconnecting iPhones users to iTunes store. All you have to do is to launch iTunes then go to the Preferences section from the top menu. Locate the Parental Control tab and uncheck both the access to iTunes Store and the allow access to iTunes U checkboxes. Thereafter quit iTunes and re-launch it. This should send you directly to iTunes U from where you go back to Parental Control and enable access to the iTunes Store. Quit iTunes again and re-launch. This may solve the problem.

Check Your Internet Connection

Check whether other devices are able to connect to the Wi-Fi signal from your current location and can access the internet. If yes then reset the WI-FI router by simply turning it off then on. Thereafter, restart the iPhone and launch iTunes. If your iPhone runs on cellular data then go to Settings, General and head to Cellular to check whether your data is on.

Date and Zone Change

A wrong date or zone can hinder you from accessing iTunes store. To fix this go to Settings then General and head to Date &Time. Once there, change the Set Automatically toggle to ON then exit iTunes and re-launch.

Software Update

Software updates help bring your iPhone up to date with the current platform tweaks. To check whether the software your iPhone runs on is current, go to Settings then General and proceed to Software Update. Make sure your Mac OS X version is updated. The iTunes and Safari should also be in their latest version.

In case you have gone through all these processes and still the – iPhone cannot Connect to iTunes Store – bug appears, you may have to hard-reset your device. You can do this by pressing the home and power button simultaneously until the screen goes blank. Then press the power button again until the Apple logo appears. This should solve your problem.
