How to Permanently Delete Apps off Your Apple Devices

0

Yesterday’s article How to Delete Apps off Your Android Devices, gave Android users the opportunity to permanently delete apps off their phones and tablets.

Now, in the name of equality, we’re extending the same opportunity to Apple users.

The thing is, as we mentioned in yesterday’s article, there are some apps you just can’t delete. Apple is particularly notorious for forcing apps and even music on their users.

This rather distasteful process has seen Apple force everything from U2’s latest album onto every Apple device and their smartwatch app too; even for iPhone users who don’t have an apple smartwatch.

This uses up space and is pretty annoying, especially when space is pretty limited on such devices anyway.

So from time to time, you’ll have to get rid of the old to bring in the new and the perfect way to do this is by deleting unwanted apps permanently from your device.

So here’s how to permanently delete apps off your Apple devices:

Here’s the first and most simple way. If you go to the Apple start-up screen and hold down any app then all of the apps will start to wobble and a cross will appear on the tope right of the app.

By clicking this cross you can delete the app and all of the files attributed to it, you will be prompted after you have clicked to confirm your decision and then the app will be gone.

This won’t delete the app from your iTunes or Mac however, so here’s how to do just that:

Open iTunes -> Open the Library section -> Select Apps from the left-hand side dropdown menu -> Find the app you wish to delete and right click on it -> Select Delete from the options

And there you have it. The app will be permanently removed from your Apple devices.

How to Permanently Delete Unwanted Apps Off Your Android Device

0

Whether you need to free up space or you’re simply bored of an app and no longer have a use for it, every smartphone user has needed to delete an app on one time or another.

Most people also want to delete it permanently and not just remove it from the home screen. Deleting it off the home screen, doesn’t actually delete it off your system; meaning that you don’t actually save any much needed space.

One thing to consider before you attempt to delete an app is that it sometimes the manufacturer doesn’t allow you to get rid of certain apps. Any iPhone users will be especially aware of this after Apple forced their Smartwatch app onto every phone- and it can’t be deleted.

You also might be faced with the option to ‘disable’ an app, this starts a similar process to deleting an app off your home screen whereby the app becomes dormant but is not permanently gone and is thus still using up space.

So for those apps you wish to delete permanently off your Android device, follow these steps:

Firstly, you will need to access your device settings. Once you’ve done this you need to access the Apps tab which should automatically open a list of your previously downloaded apps.

From here, you need to find the app/apps that you wish to remove. Click on said app and then select the Uninstall option at the top of the page, once you’ve done so it will prompt you to confirm the deletion of the app and after you have confirmed it the app will be gone from your phone or tablet.

Once an app is permanently deleted from your phone, the Google Play Store will retain all your downloaded apps. This means that even after you’ve deleted the app off your device it’s pretty simple to put it back on.

If you want every trace of the app gone, including from the play store then visit the play store and access the My Apps tab in the navigation bar. From here swipe left to access your list of downloaded apps and then simply click the ‘X’ on the right hand corner of each apps name to delete it.

How to Control Apple Music Using Siri Voice Commands

0

Since its introduction in 2011 as part of iOS 5, Apple has steadily improved Siri’s functionality, especially in the area of music playback. The voice assistant now includes voice commands that open the music app, play requested tracks, and even identify songs playing in the background using the service’s Shazam integration. This tight music integration continues with the recently launched Apple Music app. In its latest iteration, Siri now allows you to interact with Apple Music, Music Radio and even Beats 1.

To take advantage of Siri’s music controls, you only need to activate Siri by long pressing on the iPhone home button or by holding the digital crown on the Apple Watch. Siri then opens and responds with a friendly greeting — “What can I help you with?” You then can speak one of the Apple Music-related commands below and the voice assistant will respond with consistency to your requests.

  • Play “Song” from “Artist Name”
  • Play “Song” (or “Artist”, “Album”, or “Playlist and its Name”)
  • Shuffle All My Music (shuffles all the songs in your Music library)
  • Shuffle “Artist Name” or Shuffle “Album Name” (shuffles the best songs from the selected artist or album)
  • Listen to Beats 1
  • Stop Playing Music
  • Resume Playing
  • Skip (to skip the current song)
  • Like this song (to like the current song)
  • After this play “Song Name” (will play your selected song next)
  • Add this song to music (adds track to your music library)
  • Add the song on the radio to music
  • Play the top 10 songs from 1990 (or any other year)
  • What song is this?
  • Who is singing this?
  • What album is this from?
  • Play more like this (will play similar songs to the one currently playing)

If you know of any other Siri commands for Apple Music, please share them in the comments below.
