There are so many apps out there that claim to offer the best methods to help you get fit, eat and feel better.
I probably shouldn’t be complaining about the amount of choices available, after all it is certainly a buyer’s market.
But sometimes the sheer volume of the choices available make it incredibly difficult to know which apps will suit you best.
So I’ve compared three: Lifesum vs Myfitnesspal vs Loseit. To help you make an informed decision about which app will help you the most.
Lifesum
Best for: Aiding Meticulous Weight Loss
Used by 8 million worldwide it stands to reason that Lifesum are doing something right and the level of functionality this app affords is quite commendable.
From providing a comprehensive exercise diary, measuring your water intake and calories to supporting a host of languages and allowing in-app purchases for additional features Lifesum is a neat fitness app.
According to Lifesum research, the app’s users lose an average of 13 pounds over a 3 month period.
Obviously this takes dedication to exercise and diet too, but Lifesum is undoubtedly a highly useful app for those who wish to control every aspect of their diet and exercise regime.
One thing to note is that a variety of commentators have suggested that Lifesum’s calorie counter is extremely accurate- more so than competitors such as MyFitness Pal…
Myfitness Pal
Best for: The Avid Exerciser
While Lifesum perhaps takes a more scientific approach to fitness and weight-loss, Myfitness Pal is better at giving the users one of the most important elements to fitness success: motivation.
By providing awards for meeting your fitness and health goals, Myfitness Pal imbues you with confidence as you progress and urges you to progress to that next stage.
It may seem silly that a simple award would motivate you so, but when you’re engaged with the app it does just that.
It also provides a much larger food database than Lifesum with a whopping database that dwarves its rivals. This ensures you won’t waste any time creating custom meals when you could be hitting the gym…
When you get to the gym Myfitness Pal is also incredibly useful in that it provides approximately 150 more exercises than Lifesum, which is something to consider if you get bored of the same old routines.
Loseit!
Best for: Weightloss Support
Loseit! suffers from the same problem facing Lifesum- the food database is not up to scratch.
At the same time, it does deliver an accurate daily calorie calculator and exercise planner/diary akin to Lifesum which are highly useful tools.
Where Loseit! Really excels is as a user-friendly app that is nicely designed and incredibly easy to use.
One feature it does utilise that I particularly enjoy, is the fact that you can connect to friends and peers around the clock for support and motivation.
This is a great feature as we all know that you work harder with a gym partner- a definite USP for Loseit!
All in all, if you could amalgamate the three you would probably have the ultimate fitness app- Lifesum’s scientific approach, Myfitness’ food and exercise database and Loseit!’s design.
But till that day comes you’re best choosing the app which suits your needs best. For me personally, that means utilising MyFitness’ motivation and exercise database to get me down to the gym and keep it fresh when I’m there…
