Since its introduction in 2011 as part of iOS 5, Apple has steadily improved Siri’s functionality, especially in the area of music playback. The voice assistant now includes voice commands that open the music app, play requested tracks, and even identify songs playing in the background using the service’s Shazam integration. This tight music integration continues with the recently launched Apple Music app. In its latest iteration, Siri now allows you to interact with Apple Music, Music Radio and even Beats 1.
To take advantage of Siri’s music controls, you only need to activate Siri by long pressing on the iPhone home button or by holding the digital crown on the Apple Watch. Siri then opens and responds with a friendly greeting — “What can I help you with?” You then can speak one of the Apple Music-related commands below and the voice assistant will respond with consistency to your requests.
If you know of any other Siri commands for Apple Music, please share them in the comments below.
