Mass Cosmetics Zip Code Settlement
- Customers who made a purchase in a MAC Cosmetics store in Massachusetts from November 5, 2009 to October 9, 2015 could be eligible for a free cash settlement thanks to a class action lawsuit
Customers who shopped at a MAC Cosmetics store in the state of Massachusetts from the dates of Nov. 5, 2009 through Oct. 9, 2015 may be eligible to receive a settlement thanks to a class action suit that alleges MAC violated privacy laws by asking for the shopper’s ZIP code. MAC denies any wrongdoing, but they have agreed to settle this case out of court. Settlement payments in the MAC cosmetics lawsuit will not be issued as a paper check, but as a MAC Cosmetics gift card.

The last day to submit a claim in the MAC Cosmetics class action case is January 29, 2016. A final fairness hearing in the MAC cosmetics lawsuit will be held on March 1, 2016. If approved, settlement payments from MAC will be mailed out within three weeks of the fairness approval hearing.
MAC Cosmetic was founded in Toronto in 1984, and opened their first US store in 1991. MAC was initially designed to be products for professional makeup artists, but quickly expanded to all consumers. MAC found themselves in the middle of a controversy in 2010 when they released their MAC Rodarte collection, which was based on a small Mexican town where many women have been killed in brutal murders. MAC pulled the line before it hit shelves, and instead donated $10,000 to a charity.
